Betty Vandegrift Obituary

Betty was born in Fresno, Calif., in April 1923 and died after a brief illness Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Bayside Care facility in Morro Bay. After graduation from Roosevelt High School, Betty married her high school sweetheart, John Vandegrift (deceased). Betty really enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends along with knitting scarves and hats, which were sold at many local businesses in Cayucos and Morro Bay. Betty had many special friendships with many of her neighbors at Whale Rock Terrace, but none more dear then with Butch and Glo, who showed so much love and kindness. A special thank you to the Hospice Partners of the Central Coast and the nursing staff at Bayside Care facility in Morro Bay for all the love and respect they showed mom in her final days. Betty is survived by her three children Sandra and Ron Muratore and Haden Vandegrift of Fresno, and Ann Vandegrift of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren Justin and Kathryn Muratore of Silver Springs, Md., Vanessa and Kevin Selmasska of Kuna, Idaho, and Taylor Graves of Boise; and great-grandchildren Madison Selmasska, Luke Selmasska and Olivia Muratore. The family would like to extend a invitation to join in the celebration of Betty''s life at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010, at the Whale Rock Terrace Club House.

Sandra and family, Sorry I was not up to attending your Mom's memorial.
I sure wish we had met earlier and under different circumstances. I look forward to a reunion with her in Heaven. My prayers and thoughts are with your family. Sincerely, Eleanor Peterson and family

Betty was an old friend of my mother, Madge Manlove. My mother also lived in Whale Rock Terrace, but knew your mother from Huntington Lake days. When mother was ill, Betty was very supportive of me. I will miss seeing her smiling face!
