Santa Maria, California - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Marie Raul on July 5, 2023 at Marian Hospital in Santa Maria at the remarkable age of 100.
Doris was born November 29, 1922, to Otto and Marie Stoner in Hanford California. She grew up on her family's ranch and graduated from Hanford Union High School with the class of 1940. Doris married William Raul in January 1949 and moved to the Santa Maria area.
One of her greatest joys in life was nurturing her beautiful garden where she cultivated vibrant roses and delicious vegetables. She took pride in exhibiting her bounty at the Santa Barbara County Fair. For many years, she served as a 4-H leader guiding and mentoring young minds in home economics as she was also an excellent seamstress.
She was employed as a Payroll Attendance Technician for the Orcutt Union School District for 20 years, retiring in 1987. Doris was a member of the Retired California School Employees Association #5006 where she served as Treasurer from 2001 to 2008.
Doris embraced the digital age and became an avid computer user. She recognized the importance of staying connected. She interacted daily through email, researched things that she was curious about and kept up with news online.
She is survived by son Alan Raul of Shell Beach, daughter Kaye Raul and grandson Jason.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband William Raul in 1990 and sister Beulah Herndon.
Doris leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and perseverance. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will be forever etched in our hearts and her spirit will continue to guide us. Rest in peace. Your love, wisdom and cherished memories will always be a part of us.
