Faye Regan Obituary

Faye was born in June 1919 and died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, with her daughters and son-in-law by her side. In 1933, Faye Louise Belcher moved to California from Oden, Ark. With 10 brothers and sisters, Faye''s parents brought their family to the small community of McFarland in the San Joaquin Valley. Faye met and married the "love of her life," John Regan, in 1939. She said that she knew the minute she saw him that he was "the one." While helping John build a farming business, Faye and John had four children; one son and three daughters. Faye enjoyed involving herself in her children''s activities; Boy and Girl Scouts, swim meets with AAU, tap dance classes, FFA and church groups, and that was before they learned to drive. Many of Faye''s hobbies were born during her early years of married life. Knitting and crocheting was taught by a neighbor who invited other women in the countryside to learn the skill. She loved the art and her daughters benefited greatly by her sweaters and afghans. Faye and John traveled during the latter years of their marriage. They explored the United States, Hawaii and Alaska and then Europe, Ireland and Russia. John loved to go and Faye followed. What Faye enjoyed most was her home and her family. In her later years, now a family of 38, getting together with her children and grandchildren at Lake Tahoe for family reunions was great fun. It was at one of these gatherings that Faye celebrated her 80th birthday. Then, on June, 24, 2009, she celebrated her 90th birthday in Pismo Beach with her entire family gathered together. Faye is survived by her daughters Joan (Stuart) Collins and Diane Cocola; sisters Geneva Petersen and Marlene Upshaw; grandchildren Scott Noble, Paige Dantini, Kelley Testa, Colleen Regan, John Regan IV, Chris Regan, Gregg Collins, Matthew Cocola, Alison Bou; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Jack; and daughter, Patti. A service will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at the Los Osos Valley Mortuary, 2260 Los Osos Valley Road in Los Osos.

Grandma, you were the "rock" of the Regan family and it's so hard to imagine life without you. Family was so important to you and that's what I cherished the most. I love our days on the farm. I love our family reunions up in Lake Tahoe...my own children remember those the most. Without you, we would not have all those memories and we wouldn't be able to keep in touch with the cousins we grew up with.

I miss not being able to just pick up the phone and call you. You were so "matter of fact" to talk to and you had great advise. I love you with all my heart Grandma and you are terribly missed by your entire family. But now you are with my little sister Karla, my dad, Aunt Patty and Grandpa. Our only comfort when we miss you is knowing that you are not alone and you are no longer in any pain.

Big Hugs and Kisses Grandma. I love you and I know you felt loved.
