Scott Monie Obituary

Scott Paul Monie, 49, was born on Long Island, N.Y. He passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007 at home in Morro Bay.

Scott was a first class gentleman and horseman. His equine career spanned from Moorpark College, Kansas State Horseshoeing School and Colorado State University. In Colorado, he met his friend, Ann Newland, where they began the wonderful journey as parents of their beloved son Ryan. Scott was ranch manager at Regency Thoroughbred Farm in Nebraska for four years before moving his family to Solvang, Calif., where he continued his skills in equine reproduction management. After retiring from ranch management, Scott went back into specialty horseshoeing until recent.

Scott spent his time between working in Simi Valley, Calif., to relaxing and playing golf with his son Ryan on the weekends in Morro Bay. Scott was a devoted, loving father. He was a beloved son, brother and friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a hearty laugh and a big heart. He loved animals, and they responded to him with a calm trust. He was an avid sports fan and loved coaching his son's little league, and later enjoyed Ryan coaching his golf game.

Scott's stoicism and positive outlook on life was an inspiration to his friends and family and he would want us to continue this positive energy by celebrating his life with joy and gratitude.

Scott is survived by his son Ryan Monie of Morro Bay; parents Tom and Mary Monie of Arkansas; brother Dustin and sister Jennine of Colorado; and his dear friends Rick Roe of Simi Valley, Calif., Russell Blanchett of Montecito, Calif., and Ann Newland of Los Osos.

No services have been planned at this time. A benevolent account has been established at Washington Mutual Bank for the benefit of Ryan Monie to assist in his father's medical expenses and Ryan's college expenses. The family extends their gratitude for all of our friends who have offered their love and support during this difficult time.
