Stanley Haynes Obituary

Stanley Ray Haynes, 70 of Salinas, was born in Aromas, in August 1939, and passed away Monday, March 15, 2010, from complications of pneumonia. He attended local schools, graduating from Salinas High School in 1958. He was the founder of Cinderella Carpets, a floor covering company with stores in Salinas and San Luis Obispo. Haynes was active in the floor covering industry serving on the Board of Directors of Carpet One, a national floor covering buying group and on the advisory committee of Prosource Wholesale Floor Coverings, a national floor covering franchisor. In 1977, Stan received the Flooring Award for Merchandising Achievement from "Flooring" magazine and in 2007 was named one of the Top 50 Retailers by "Floor Covering Weekly." Stan''s real passion was The Haynes Charitable Foundation which he founded in 2000 and has as its goal helping to improve the lives of children worldwide. The Foundation, under his direction, funded projects such as building churches, schools and installing wells for clean drinking water as far away as South America and Southeast Asia. Working with his local Rotary Club and Rotoplast International he assisted in many medical missions to South America. Locally he was a big supporter of the Boy Scouts and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. Stanley is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane; children, Mike, Mark and Michele; grandchildren, Danielle, Shara, Brandon; and sister, Levon. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, 830 Padre Drive, in Salinas. Entombment will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. My condolences to the Haynes family. Stan taught me at a young age the value of hard work. Long hours, commitment and effort would give you the opportunity to be successful. Stan was successful in his life. I admire his many great achievements that came as a result of hard work. Stan was a great family man, a great businessman and a great humanitarian. He will be missed by many.
