Jason McCarty Obituary

With great sorrow, we announce the loss of Jason Lee McCarty, age 46, of New Braunfels, Texas. Jason passed away from the effects of systemic scleroderma, which he had bravely fought for the past two years.

Jason was born in San Marcos, Texas, to Jimmy and Kay McCarty. Jason attended San Marcos schools and graduated from San Marcos High School, where he played varsity soccer and basketball and was involved in other activities, including PALS and the yearbook staff. Jason attended Texas State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree. He then worked in sales for Texdoor in San Antonio for the next 23 years.

Jason loved being with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, the Texas coast, the DaNada Ranch, the deer camp, and sports. He was so very proud of his sons' accomplishments and was the captain of their fishing boat for FAN and Canyon High School teams.

Jason is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Kacey Major McCarty, and his two sons, Major, age 16, and Harper, age 13. He is also survived by his loving parents and brother Kevin and wife Jen (children Joshua and Sarah), his aunt and uncle Dianne and Calvin Whiteley, his uncle James Whited, special cousin, Jayla Whiteley Mohr and husband Ryan, (children Behr, Ruby, Rosa, Gema, and Nova), his uncle Larry McCarty and wife Debby and Larry's children (Tracy, and Dylan).

Jason was very blessed to be a part of Kacey's family including Bill and Barbara Major Sr., Bill and Crystal Major Jr. (children, Jack, Lily, and Tanner), Christi Major (children Josh and Tyler (children Jaxon and Avery).

Jason's and Kacey's extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, his work family at Texdoor and so many supportive and loving friends also mourn his passing. The family would like to thank the IMICU and ICU units of Cristus Santa Rosa, New Braunfels, for their care and compassion during Jason's last two months.

Jason is predeceased by grandparents Ansel and Myrtle McCarty and Ray and Gertrude Whited.

Memorial services will be held Friday, November 3, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Oakwood Baptist Church in New Braunfels with reception following.

My sincere condolences to Jason’s wife, children, extended family and loved ones. To his parents and brother who earlier this year attended my son Bobby Dunkin’s funeral, I share your unbelievable grief and the feeling that it just can’t be true. They will remain with us in heart and mind as we continue to live the life they would wish us to live. God bless and keep you.
