Sherri Bilson Obituary
She was born in Amarillo, Texas on January 31, 1950, to William and Sue Edwards. She was the youngest of 3 children, sister Judy Nelson, and brother Toney Edwards who have all preceded her in death.
Sherri started her career as a cosmetologist then began teaching cosmetology in high schools and private schools. She enjoyed meeting new people and always said that her work was her social time and her therapy. While she was raising two kids and working, she met the love of her life, Donald Bilson, and they married on April 9, 1978, in Charleston, South Carolina, where they were together for 37 years before he preceded her in death.
Sherri is survived by her children, Aric Bilson and Chandra Gustafson, and her son-in-law Jamie Gustafson. Her grandchildren; Natalie Schmitt, Alexandra Gustafson, Hunter Bilson, Taylor Baldwin, Jake Gustafson, Emily Bilson, Addyson Gustafson, and Finley Johnson. As well as her great-grandchildren; Liam Baldwin, Ayla Oltmans, Caden Schmitt, Oliver Gustafson, Lennon Baldwin, Eleanor Schmitt and Leo Baldwin, and her niece Vanessa Blondeau.
Sherri enjoyed traveling, riding horses, doing arts and crafts of all kinds, and spending time with her family. She cherished her friendships and giving back to the community. She was a strong woman and a fighter; she did not take no for an answer. She believed in God and prayer which helped her through her many battles with cancer.
Thank you to Westover Baptist Church for giving her the support she needed to fight her battles with cancer and to Halcyon Hospice for the support they provided to her so she could be at home with family and her dog Sunny.
Funeral services will be at 2pm on September 9, 2024, at Pennington Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Latham, officiating; followed by a wake at Westover Baptist Church in San Marcos, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Cancer Research Institute Advancing Immunotherapy Research in her honor.
