Alice Elaine Ish passed away the morning of September 18, 2008 after nearly 93 years of joyful living.
She was born October 17, 1915 in Kingsburg, CA to Annie Johnson and Aaron Swenson. Blessed with the gift of music, Alice graduated from Fresno State College with a degree in music and a teaching credential. After marrying Robert Ish, a fellow music teacher, Alice shared her appreciation for music with her students and as an organist and accompanist for Kingsburg Methodist Church in Kingsburg, Hillsdale Methodist Church in San Mateo, and the First Congregational Church in Santa Cruz.
Alice's generous nature and love for her family was inspiring. In her last weeks, she continued to reflecton the happiness she found in music and took comfort in the love that surrounded her throughout her life. Sheenjoyed talking about her family withher neighbors and the staff at Dominican Oaks and later at Paradise Villa,both in Santa Cruz.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vernon Ish and her sisters, Doris Pyott and Eleanor Bergstrom. She is survived by her three sons; Richard, Jack and Donald;five grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
A celebration of Alice's life will be held at the First Congregational Church in Santa Cruz, located at 900 High Street, on Saturday, September 27 at 1 p.m. Please call or email DonIsh for fur ther information at 512639-6922 or [email protected].
