We lost Barbara Whitten Wain on Saturday, August 25th. A life-long teacher and artist, Barbara enlivened Davenport and the north coast with a passionate commitment to her community and the land. She left us suddenly but peacefully, at rest in the home she lovingly built with her late husband, Harry Wain. Barbara's generous heart gave children the tools to learn, kindness and courage to her friends and the beauty of her art to the world.
Missing her deeply will be her sons, Michael Whitten of Davenport, CA, Daniel Whitten of Mystic, CT, step-daughters, Morgan Wain-Hirschberg of Menlo Park, CA, Cynthia Wain of Los Altos Hills, CA, Carol Freeman of Milpitas, CA, and sisters Marjorie Recke of Newburyport, MA, Judith Boutilier of Guilford, CT, Karen Baker of Norwell, MA, and many loving grandchildren.
Expressions of love for Barbara may be made in donations to the Pacific School Foundation in Davenport, CA.
