August 27, 1954 - April 19, 2013
San Luis Obispo
Dawn Mary Mulvany-McVey, 58, entered into God's care on Friday afternoon April 19, 2013, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Her parents and immediate family were at her bedside to offer their love and comfort in her final days. Dawn is the daughter of Robert Mulvany (Rose) of Murphys, Calif., and Betty Townsend-Whitcomb (James) of Prunedale, Calif. She was born at her grandparent's home in Bristol, England on August 27, 1954. Upon completion of her father's tour of duty in England with the USAF her parents brought her to California when she was three months old. She attended schools in San Jose, Calif., and Santa Cruz County and graduated with honors from Santa Clara University, having earned her BA in English with a minor in Art History. Dawn lived many happy years raising her children and then grandchildren, attaining her pilot's license, horseback riding, and dealing in real estate and home design. She was an active volunteer at the Twin Lakes Church Library in Aptos, Calif. updating the library to a computerized system, then later with the Atascadero Horseman's Association and other organizations. Dawn was very devoted to her faith in God, who gave her great peace and strength. Dawn is survived by her sons Ryan McVey of Mammoth Lakes, CA and Colin McVey (Stephanie) of Atascadero, CA, grandchildren, sisters Ann Burke (Peter) of Moss Landing, CA, Denise Fitzgerald (Kevin) of Templeton, CA and Renee Parks (Kevin) of Aptos, CA and several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. A celebration of Dawn's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Twin Lakes Church, Monske Hall in Aptos.
