Gary Ellner Obituary

Services were held on Monday in Santa Cruz for Gary Richard Ellner who passed away on November 23, 2007 at Dominican Hospital with his loving family at his bedside. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in San Jose, he was 53 years old. Gary has been a resident of the Santa Cruz area for the past 37 years. He was an entrepreneur and self-made man. Gary was a world traveler, and circumvented the globe many times. He was especially fond of South East Asian Culture.

His family will forever remember him for his generous spirit. As a successful, accomplished businessman and world traveler. Gary helped both friends and strangers in need and was always looking out for the safety and well being of friends and Family in any way possible for him.

He was a former Yo -Yo champion, and also enjoyed bowling, video games, billiards, tennis and sunshine. Gary was a fan of science fiction and he loved to play pool. He adored animals, especially his pets. A lover of life and all it had to offer, he had a keen wit and sense of humor. He was vibrant and passionate in his work and in building a future for his Son.

He had a very close friendship with his loving son, Sean Magnoni Ellner of Santa Cruz and is also survived by Sean's mother, Anna Magnoni and Sean's maternal grandmother Gina Magnoni both of Santa Cruz. He also leaves his nephew Derek and his family s, whose loving care for Gary and their special closeness to his loved ones, will forever be cherished.

Gary also leaves his four sisters, Millie Guinn of San Jose, Iris Miller of Campbell, Phyllis Cox of Meadow Vista, CA. Valerie Ellner of Reno, NV. His brother, Kenn Ellner of Redwood City, CA., and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family that will miss him very much.

Services were held on November 26th at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel with Rabbi Paula Marcus of Temple Beth El Jewish Community in Aptos, officiating. A private burial was held at Home of Peace Jewish Cemetery a special trust account has been established for his son's education.
