Gordon F. Brown, born December 2, 1924, passed away suddenly at the age of 83 late this month. Gordon was born in San Francisco, raised in Menlo Park and Santa Rosa, and lived his adult life in Sacramento, Aptos, and Santa Cruz. He graduated from Santa Rosa High School, during which time he became an Eagle Scout, and Santa Rosa JC, where he played basketball. After serving in the U.S. Navy in World War 2, Gordon graduated from U.C. Berkeley, where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He was a fixture in the floor covering industry for most of his career, selling both at the commercial and retail levels. Gordon was a very active member for many years on the Santa Cruz and Aptos golf scene, and could often be found on the DeLaveaga and Seascape courses. He is survived by his two children, Gordon and Stacey, two sisters, Barbara Christiensen of San Francisco, and Ginger Nordyke of Santa Rosa, two grand children, Camille and Caroline Mauduit of La Ravoire, France, and seven nieces and nephews. The family scattered his ashes in Monterey Bay in a private ceremony. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Santa Cruz Memorial "" Mission Chapel.
