Everyone who knew Janet loved her. Wherever she went she made friends, whether in her newest home, Dominican Oaks, traveling the streets of London, or browsing the shops of Noe Valley. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She shared treasured recipes, books, Scrabble games, advice, and her love. She taught us the importance of reaching out to those around us because she understood the value of an open heart. Her laughter, quick wit, and knowledge of the English language will be missed. We are so grateful to have had Janet on this earth for 88 wonderful years. Janet left us peacefully on Monday, August 17 to join her husband of close to 60 years, Robert Johnson. Raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Janet spent the greater part of her life in the city she loved, San Francisco. She is survived by her daughter, Madeleine Macy; two granddaughters, Cybele Candau and Laura Macy; two great grandchildren, Zack and Mikaela Candau, all from Santa Cruz; and her sister, Rita Mervosh of Chicago, IL.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Janet on Sunday, August 30 at 2pm in the Oaks Room at Dominican Oaks, 3400 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz.
Donations can be made in Janet's memory to Susan G. Komen for The Cure, Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265 or ww5.komen.org/Donate
