Jeffrey Wyant Obituary

Jeffrey Scott Wyant
Sept. 11, 1954 - Feb. 20, 2018
Resident of Santa Cruz
On April 14, 2018 in Santa Cruz, California, friends and family will gather to share memories and reflections of a loving husband, father, son, brother and trusted friend. A celebration of life will be held at Calvary Episcopal church at 12:00 noon.
Jeff Wyant, 63 years old, passed away at his family cabin in Tahoe. He was born in San Mateo, California, raised in San Jose and graduated from Lynbrook High School in 1972 where he was an All American swimmer on the water polo team. Upon graduation, Jeff attended San Jose State earning his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Arts. Soon after graduation, Jeff moved to Santa Cruz where he lived for 40 years with his wife, Kristi and raised their two daughters. In 1991, Santa Cruz's bicentennial year, Jeff learned that he is the great, great, great grandson of Philip Armas, who was the first Californian to purchase five rooms in the Santa Cruz Mission adobe that housed Mission Indian workers. Jeff commuted and worked for 35 years in Silicon Valley as a Systems Analyst, forming strong friendships throughout his career.
There are many fond memories of Jeff's love for the mountains and ocean where he enjoyed surfing, sailing, rock climbing, bike riding, loud music, wood working, camping and home projects. He was always eager to help others with repairing bikes, working on computers and cars, and solving electrical and mechanical problems. Two of his many accomplishments was completing a 10-week bicycle trip across the United States in his early 40's and assisting in building his Santa Cruz home.
Jeff is survived by his devoted wife, Kristi Wyant, and their daughters Jessica and Rachele of San Francisco. He also leaves his father and mother, Raymond and Marguerite Wyant of San Jose, and sisters Gail Christensen, Paula Tucker and Karen Wyant.
Donations in Jeff's memory can be given to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org/goto/jeff_wyant

Not a year goes by that I don't think about Jeff's friendship even though the last time I saw him was over 30 years ago. I remember learning to scuba dive with him, late overnight no sleep trips to tahoe, him teaching me how to rock climb in Yosemite, teaching me to sail his buddies hobie cat and nearly flipping it on our first attempt and of course his wedding. I will truly miss him.

He could be So funny! And straight forward all at the same time. I was barely in my 20's when we worked at IDT together. He helped me understand the tech stuff! In such a kind way. We tried to start a for fun bike rally business. But, I left California.
What I will remember him for..He was kind, funny and had a wonderful laugh! Rest in peace my friend!

I worked with Jeff at IDT in Santa Clara. What a stand up guy! He was kind and thoughtful and always willing to be of service to his co-workers. I mentioned to him once that I did not know how to swim...he gave me lessons! I am so sorry to hear that we've lost a very good man. My condolences to his wife and daughters...he will be missed by all who knew him.
