Margaret Corwin Obituary

Margaret Ann Corwin
May 29, 1932-January 20, 2015
Santa Cruz
Margaret Corwin passed away early Tuesday morning. All her children and grand children were able to say goodby during the weekend before he death. She will be greatly missed by all who have known her.
Margaret was born in Fairbury, Nebraska to Norman and Genevieve Chaney. Norman died when Margaret was young, and Genevieve was left to raise five children on her own. She moved to Grand Island, Nebraska where her parents lived, and worked as a cook. Margaret attended Grand Island High School, and there she met Marvin Corwin. They were married and started a family just after Margaret graduated. Marvin worked for the railroad and became a heavy equipment operator. Work took them all over the mid-west, down to Arizona, and eventually to California. They spent many years in Whittier and then moved to Santa Cruz in the 1980s.
Margaret was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed tournaments and outings to play with many dear friends. She was a prolific and talented quilt maker, and her quilts adorn the beds, walls, and couches of homes in many states.
Marvin proceeded her in death in 2014. They had been together for over 60 years. She is survived by two siblings Peggy Smith, and Robert Chaney of Southern California. Her sisters Ruth Poe and Norma Scobie have passed.
She is survived by Deborah Corwin and her partner Laura Diem of Watsonville, her son Mark Corwin and his wife Terry of Santa Cruz, her daughter LeeAnn Corwin and her wife Jennifer Faler of Albequerque N.M, and her daughter Lisa Corwin of Bend Oregon. She also was blessed with five grandchildren and five great grand children.
Services will be held at the end of February.

Marge & Cork were spirited and fun. We always shared laughter through the trials of aging. I learned a lot from them. Bless them both and all of their lovely accomplished children, and beyond.
Rest in Peace Marge & Cork
