Mary Farquhar Obituary

Aptos, California
Mary Farquhar died peacefully at home on August 27, 2015. Mary was born in Ellsworth, Maine and grew up in Somesville, Maine. She attended Bates College in Maine before going on to compete both a Master's in Science and an RN degree at Colombia University. A longtime resident of Aptos, she worked as a nurse for the County Office of Education for 22 years. She cherished her beautiful garden and enjoyed walking on the nearby beach. She and her husband loved to take wilderness hikes and tent camp in the North West. Mary was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend. Her kindness will be missed and remembered always by her friends and family. She is survived by her sons David and John Farquhar, her daughter Nina Reese, granddaughter Sierra Farquhar, grandsons Rowan Reese and Colin Reese, husband Tom Snell and brother John Grant. A memorial will be held in at her Aptos home at the end of December.

Being Tom and Mary Delia's neighbor for many years was a real honor. They were two of the kindest and most generous souls both to my family and to everyone they met. We are saddened to hear of their passing. And will remember them always with great Love and Respect.

My sincere condolences to the Farquhar family. David, Nina, and Johnny, you may not remember me but I lived just up the hill from your grandparents' house in Somesville. I looked forward to your visits every summer. We spent a lot of time together and your mother was always so good to me. I am so sorry for your loss.
