Maureen O'Neil has moved! Born and raised in Santa Cruz, she now resides in Heaven. The world has lost a kind and loving soul. Her family and friends have gained an advocate in Heaven. Maureen will be remembered most for her kind and gentle personality and friendly smile. She took time with everyone. She loved to talk; she made everyone around her feel comfortable.
Maureen was the daughter of Lydia and Richard O'Neil of Santa Cruz. She is survived by her loving husband Dan Casagrande and her only sister, Sheila O'Neil and partner Gary Decker. Sisters-in-law include Roberta Jenkins, Donna Casagrande, Marcy Blair, Denise Casagrande, Patty Polcawich and Peggy Layton; brothers -in-law Ron Casagrande, Thomas Jenkins, Jon Polcawich and Thomas Layton; bonus sons Dan, Andy, Joseph and John Casagrande. Daughters-in-law include Nicole Casagrande, Emma Casagrande and Jennifer Liccardi. Maureen loved her eight grandchildren – Gio Casagrande Fragola, Madison Casagrande Fragola, Danny, Ella, Colin, Soleil, Ace and Nova Casagrande. On Maureen's mother's side of the family she has numerous aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved dearly.
Maureen went to Holy Cross for twelve years and graduated from Cabrillo College. Maureen was admired for her honesty, integrity and work ethic. She went to work with Bank of America right after college and spent her entire 46-year career with the bank.
Maureen's funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 11 AM at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola. A vigil service will be held at Benito & Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, 1050 Cayuga Street, Santa Cruz on Friday, March 4 at 6 PM.
When you get to heaven someday, if you don't know Maureen, introduce yourself, you'll be glad you did.

So sorry to learn of Maureen's passing. Maureen and my sister Ardith were long time friends at BofA and had many happy adventures together. We were co-workers at BofA for years and Maureen was always fun. Her beautiful smile will be missed. My deepest condolences to her family and friends.
