Mike, as he was known to his family and friends, was born to Catherine Lettunich and Nick Butier on February 12, 1945 in Watsonville, California where he died peacefully at home on May 9, 2010 following a long illness.
While attending Cabrillo College Mike was apprenticed into the family business which was well known under three labels: MIKE & NICK, BUTIER'S BEST AND BUTIER & BULICH. After selling the business Mike worked for a time for Del Mar Foods until his semi retirement. He along with his wife Linda ran their restaurant, "Michaels Bar and Grill" until 1993. He worked for a short time at California Giant before being diagnosed with cancer.
He enjoyed duck hunting, golf and hanging out with his friends and family telling many jokes and stories.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Linda who was his devoted care giver and best friend and his children Laura Stephen Volk, Tracy Roy Cross, and Michael Aimee Butier, Kara Whitley and Jack Wilson, 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is survived by his sisters, Sister Paula Butier, SNDdN and Kathleen John Nalty. He was predeceased by his sister Loretta Butier Montana. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael's family is grateful to Hospice, and for the good wishes and loving support extended to him, Linda and his family during his illness.
There will be a private family burial prior to the memorial mass which will be held at 1pm at St. Patrick Church, Friday, May 14, 2010. Arrangements are being handled by Mehl's Colonial Chapel.
