Uncle Mike (my Bruncle) - mom's half brother - a brother to me, too. My first spelling word: antidisestablishmentarianism. Philosophy until 3:00 AM. Political Science for breakfast. I was 10 years old and having a blast - blasting my brains into existence. Trips to the zoo, vacations, living with us for 10 years. Visits during breaks - many debates, a whole lot of discussions. The sparkle in your eye, that laugh that made us smile. You will be missed, But we WILL remember you and all those things you stretched us into. I will love you always and look forward to seeing you again. Your little niester, Debora Lyn (Roberts) White.

Uncle Mike was an important figure for me as I grew up in Indio California. After leaving the Navy, he lived with our family for about 10 years. Even though his life was not always easy, he was consistently a positive role model for me, my sisters and my family. His influence was great. Uncle Mike walked me down the isle for my wedding and will be forever remembered in my mind and in my heart. I am saddened that I was not able to see him before his passing, but I know that his great spirit lives within the Universal Mind and we are all better for the experience we have had in knowing and loving my Uncle Mike Newkirk.

I had Mike for Fall semester 2007 at Cabrillo. My heart goes out to his family for his loss. It sounds like he will certainly be remembered by many as a very great man. I enjoyed him in class. He now knows what really happens in the afterlife. GO MIKE!

Gina,Mark and James
You have each other. Please use that connection and know that it extends beyond your normal range. You will find strength and love in family and friends. Mike was a very special man. I feel blessed to have been his sister-in-law. With my sister, he gave me shelter in the truest sense of the word. I owe him a debt of love and gratitude which I will never be able to repay! He gave my sister many years of happiness and two wonderful sons. (and me two amazing nephews!)
With a heart full of sadness and love,
Jayne
