Nathan Weber Obituary

Nathan Michael-Jon Weber, 28, of Aptos, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 13, 2009. With true grace and dignity, he bravely fought a long battle with melanoma. Nathan was born in Monterey on February 2, 1981 and raised in Pacific Grove and Carmel Valley. He graduated from Pacific Grove High School in 1999. He worked for Granite Construction and was a member of Ducks Unlimited and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Nathan was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping. He introduced many people to the joys of camping and spent his last camping trip at Bass Lake with 25 family members in July. He was an accomplished grill master; his barbecued ribs were the best! He loved gardening and especially loved growing heirloom tomatoes and sunflowers for his children.

He married his wife, Catherine Ruso, in 2006, and was a devoted husband and loving Daddy.

His greatest joy was the birth of his children. It was rare to see him alone as he almost always was cuddling one of his babies.

We are blessed to have known Nathan and are filled with emotion as we honor our husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. Nathan treated others with kindness and compassion and was truly a special gift to all those who knew him. His gentle spirit will live on in the legacy of his children.

He is survived by his wife Catherine and children Skyler, Caleb, Joshua and Hayden, all of the family home; his parents, Valerie and John Teters of Olympia WA, Don and Trish Weber of Carmel Valley and Doug and Lisa Steiney of Carmel Valley; siblings Dan Weber and John, Claire and Parker Teters all of Olympia WA and Shanna Weber of Carmel Valley; uncles Bill Farrington of Capitola and Jonathan Farrington of Oakhurst. On his wife's side of the family, Nathan is survived by his mother-in-law and father-in- law Anthony and Anna Marie Ruso of Santa Cruz; sisters-in law and brothers-in law Patty and Jeff Lester of Corralitos, MaryBeth and John Macedo of Gilroy, Blossom and David Ruso of Rio Del Mar and Pamela and J.J. Moreno of Watsonville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Nathan's life will be held Wednesday, August 19th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola at 11:30 a.m. All who knew and loved him are invited to attend.

An account has been set up for Nathan's children at Santa Cruz County Bank, 4604 Scotts Valley Drive; Scotts Valley CA 95066, account #031006208.

Hello Cathy and Family,

My heart is feeling sadness and a sense of aw. I feel sadness for Cathy, the kids and Nathans family for the loss they are feeling right now.

The write up in the Sentinal gave me a more in depth picture of who Nathan was. I had only met him a few times at Ruso family gatherings and it was clear to me that he was a very caring loving human being. I'm in aw of how big he lived his life.

My love and caring thoughts go out to Cathy the children and Nathans family.Love Elizabeth Ridgeway
