Pauline Ensminger Obituary

Pauline Ensminger
July 15, 1923- July 23, 2013
Resident of Santa Cruz
Pauline Theresa Ensminger died peacefully in her sleep at home with her daughter by her side on July 23, at the age of 90, after a valiant fight against cancer. She was born in Biddeford, Maine on July 15th, 1923 and was the sixth of eight Vermette siblings. She moved to Florida during WWII while serving her country in the Navy. There she met and married her beloved husband of 31 years, Wren Eugene Ensminger. He was in the military defense business and together they moved 33 times, all over the United States including New England, Virginia, San Diego and Washington. The last 17 years of her life she lived in Santa Cruz, CA where she could be close to her son, daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spending time with family and friends and was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Pauline will be remembered for her amazing memory and great sense of humor. She was short in stature but tall in character and might. She loved playing cards, dominoes and completing crossword puzzles. Pauline was the last of 8 siblings to pass and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by many, including her son David Ensminger, his wife Betty and their sons Bryce, Dana and Wesley; her daughter Janice Ensminger, grandson Erik Miyoshi, his wife Christine and great grandchildren Tyler and Conrad; granddaughter Joy Ainsworth, her husband Jacob and son Eli; and many other beloved relatives.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Melinda White of Capitola for her care and commitment to Pauline, as well as Hospice of Santa Cruz for their compassion and amazing nurses.
A celebration of life Mass will be held Monday, July 29th at 10:00am at St Joseph's Church, 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola. In leiu of gifts or flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
