Raymond Bobby Obituary

Raymond M. Bobby
Santa Cruz County
Our beloved Ray left us suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, October 27, 2018. He was a wonderful partner and father. Born April 20, 1955 in Torrance, California, the son of Martha and Larry Bobby, Ray grew up a gifted artist and sportsman. There really wasn't any sport he didn't do well, but for a long time his favorites were golf, surfing and skiing. His passion took him first to Encinitas and Carlsbad for surfing and then to Lake Tahoe for skiing and cycling. He managed sports shops and then stepped out on his own to be a sales rep for many reputable sports brands. In 1989 Ray moved to Santa Cruz, married, started his family, and with help from a good friend, learned the trade of marble and tile installation. Ray was a true craftsman. His creative talents and his precise nature made every kitchen and bathroom a work of art. Ray's other hobbies and pursuits included a love of live music, painting, gardening, tennis, photography and being in the outdoors. He was known for his quick wit and wicked sense of humor. Everybody loved Ray's laugh. Other adjectives and descriptive words from his partner, Carol, and his children, Evan and Ava, are as follows: adventurous, patient, true, gentle soul, warm-hearted, young-spirited, proud father, loyal, honest, kind, generous, caring and attentive. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his children, Evan and Ava Bobby, his partner, Carol Skuletich, and his two brothers, Randy and Ron Bobby. There will be a remembrance gathering on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 1-4 pm at Aptos Village Park. In lieu of flowers, we are confident that Ray would have preferred a donation to Save Our Shores.

Ray and I wandered through life in the 70s of north san diego county

at the beach and relaxing in a vapor of smoke influenced each other minimally, but maybe eternally

lived together on old county road on the north shore of lake tahoe

went on a wild adventures to mammoth mountain and other fluffy spots in the early 80s

later re-connected in the late 80s

went different ways after

always in my heart

Heartbroken to hear he is gone. My last time seeing him was a couple of years after high school. He pulled up next to me at a light on Normandy and like 166th street or whatever it is. His car windows rolled down he called my name and I turned to see his beautiful smile and his sun bleached hair down to his waist blowing in the air. And the signal changed and he and that big pink tank of a car he was driving turned left and that was it. I would never see his face again after that. I had no idea where he went but I found him living in Watsonville. We had a long chat and he told me about his life. He was the sweetest soul with an unforgettable face and laugh. Everyone loved this guy. He was just sweet and kind and mellow always. I will miss you my friend. I am sorry I didn't get to visit with you one last time while I was In capitola in September 2018. There aren't many like him. He was unique in every way.

This summer Ray and I became close friends, enjoying lots of music and meals together. Viva Cilantro's Ray! Your good company will be sorely missed. The first new brother I've found in many years. I hope Evan - who came with Ray to my house in Boulder Creek - will contact me.

So very shocked and saddened by the passing of brother Ray. We spent so many, many days surfing together, and musing about and deeply enjoying life. His laugh and smile were contagious, and his warmth, kindness, and brotherhood will never be forgotten. Ray was one of the highlights of my life in those days, and I will never forget him. My deep sympathies go to his family. Much love and safe passage my friend.
