Richard Rohme
Dec. 24, 1964 - May 25, 2016
Watsonville and Merced
Richard Lee Rohme passed away on May 25, 2016 in Watsonville, CA. He was struck by a vehicle while walking outside of his house. He lived in both Merced and Watsonville; he was 51 years old.
Rich was born on December 24, 1964 in Rancho Cordova, California. He graduated from Arroyo High School in 1983. He obtained five all league High School titles in football, wrestling, and track. Rich also held the WPOL title in the National Dart Association (Platinum Singles Division). He was a certified scuba diver and recently saved the life of a drowning victim. Rich liked to boast about riding a Harley at the 75th Annual Sturgis Rally in South Dakota. He loved spending time traveling with his family, boating, and enjoying a glass of wine relaxing at the cabin in Mariposa. He was the General Manager of Coastal Nursery in Watsonville for 25 years. He was the gentle giant that would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed help. His loyalty and devotion to family and friends was legendary.
Richard is survived by his loving mother Donna Rodrigues, three children Nicholas, Jessica and Madison; brothers Greg and Gary (Fiona) Rodrigues, Jeremiah (Zoe) Daybell, Jon Jacklitsch; his father and step-mother Verne and Janie Rohme; the mother of his children Pam Irons; his grandmother Anna Ralston; stepfather Kent Miller (Anna); his nephews John, Joe and Will Rodrigues; Aunts Joanne, Kandy and Krisanna; Cousins Cody and Tyler Hall; and many other family members and friends. And lastly, the love of his life, Andrea Krebs, her parents Mike and Barbara, sister Julie and niece KK.
He is preceded in death by his sister Julie Rohme (1990), stepfather Jess Rodrigues (2004), grandparents William and La Verne Rohme, and his uncles/aunts Raymond, Ronnie, and Joann Rohme.
For anyone that has shared in Rich's life, there will be a grave side prayer service at Evergreen Cemetery – 1480 B Street, Merced, CA on Wednesday June 1st at 11:00. There will be a celebration of life immediately following. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Richard may be made to the American Diabetes Organization (http://www.diabetes.org).

Rich my friend- every time I´m traveling up from southern calif to Watsonville on biz I pass restaurants we were together at- your dart haunts we downed brews at - your nsy we talked biz at- and your home where we hung out at.
Special memories. Special man.
You loved your family. You loved life.
And you always made time to be my friend.
You left all who Loved and cared for you too soon. But your barrel chested laughter still rings in our hearts.

Donna,
This young man made an impression on me the first time I met him at Jess' birthday party in San Juan Bautista many years ago. He was so personable and warm. A very loving son, father and a wonderful friend to me in the past. He will be truly missed by all the lives he touched.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family.
I will especially be praying for God to give you strength during the days ahead.

With heartfelt sentiment,

Richard,
All of us in the office and the employees don't have words to express of your loss. You were like a brother, a mentor and friend. Although we fought like brothers and sisters we always seemed to work things out at the end. We all still expect you to walk into the office and ask us all "how is everything going".

Your services yesterday were absolutely beautiful and to see the room full of people shows how much you were loved.

We all miss you and will always be here to help your mom (Donna).

Rest in Peace Richard

All of us at Coastal Nursery

To all of the family....know that the love Rich had for you was as big as he was. I cherished our late night conversations when I was in town. We talked a little about the ups and downs of business...but mostly we talked about family and friends and good times. You will be greatly missed my good friend....you left us too early.

I can't believe your gone, you have been such a strong role model to our kids, you have been a dedicated, you have always provided for them and you've always taught them family is everything! You have taught them to be selfless, how to laugh and that integrity is everything. I can't imagine anyone will be able to fill your shoes. You are missed so much!

You have touched so many people in so many different ways and I pray that the pain can begin to mend. I will always think of you, and never let your kids forget the funny stories with you. And what kind of man you were! I miss you my friend.

Love Pam
