CHARLES MILNER Obituary

CHARLES P. MILNER
Charles Porter Milner was born in the family home in Gatesville, Texas on June 25th, 1930 to parents John H. Milner and Martha Boyd Milner.
He attended the Gatesville Public Schools and graduated in 1947 at the age of 16. Prior to his graduation, he was selected as President of the Junior and Senior Classes, served on the Student Council and as Sports Editor of the Yearbook and was a member of Who's Who in his senior class.
He attended the University of Texas at Austin and was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering in 1952, and a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering in 1953. He helped pay for his university education by working in the oil fields of New Mexico in the summers, by working as a laboratory assistant and by serving as a grader in the Department of Petroleum Engineering. His time in Graduate School was paid for by a full research scholarship.
In 1954, he married Edwina Hawley in Austin, Texas which was the best decision he ever made.
He joined Phillips Petroleum Company on graduation. Later, he was employed by El Paso Natural Gas and Tenneco.
He joined Ryder Scott Company in 1967 in Houston, Texas. Ryder Scott is an international oil and gas consulting firm with offices in Houston, Denver, and Calgary. At Ryder Scott, Charles participated in major projects throughout the United States and numerous foreign countries. Charles retired as President of Ryder Scott in 1990.
After Retirement, they moved to their home on Lake Austin, Texas and their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
In Santa Fe, Charles served on the Board of the Wheelwright Museum and on the Board of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation, and Charles and Edwina were the lead donors for Milner Plaza on Museum Hill. He also served on the Advisory Board of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
Charles leaves behind a daughter, Tracy Sims and Tracy's Husband, Steve Sims and Grandsons, Bruce Sims and Trevor Sims. Also, his Wife, Edwina Hawley Milner who has given him love, companionship, and an ongoing education in the arts.

I recall vividly meeting Chief and Glamour! Chief had a sincere smile, kind presence and welcomed me with open arms...not to mention, he is a n avid dog lover, so I knew I liked him right off the bat!!
