Before I was old enough to go to school, I would follow "Uncle Gil" around our grandparents' home - I wanted to be just like him. As a college student he would be studying, and so he would insist that I look at a book while he studied nearby. I used to remind him that he was the one who taught me how to tie my shoes, and it made him smile. He was incredibly kind and patient all through his life, with a wonderful sense of humor. A good man, a life well-lived.
