MARTIN GOMEZ Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Martin Patrick Gomez Jr. on Oct. 17, 2024, at the age of 50. Born on Jun. 10, 1974, Martin was a devoted son, loving father, cherished brother, and true friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Evelyn Marie Gomez.
Martin proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His service reflected his deep sense of duty and his unwavering dedication to those he loved and protected.
He is survived by his father, Martin Gomez; his two sons, Patrick Day and Joel Zapalac; and his three sisters, Michelle Gilchrist, Sonia Gomez-Nieto, and Candace Gomez. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts, all of whom held Martin Jr. in great affection. Martin's family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
A man of deep faith, Martin loved our Lord Jesus Christ and lived his life exemplifying that love. He was known for his kindness and compassion, always finding grace in the many challenges he faced. His gentle spirit and warm heart touched the lives of many, and he had a special gift for making everyone feel valued and loved.
Martin had a unique way of closing every conversation with family and friends, always leaving them with the heartfelt words, "I love you, and God bless you." This simple yet profound expression of love will resonate in the hearts of all who knew him, serving as a reminder of the warmth and kindness he shared.
As we celebrate the life of Martin Patrick Gomez Jr., let us remember his unwavering faith, his boundless love for his family, and his courageous spirit. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Semper Fi.
The rosary for Martin Jr. is scheduled for 10:00 AM, followed by the mass at 11:00 AM on Fri, Nov. 8, 2024, at St. Anne Parish, located at 511 Alicia St., Santa Fe, NM 87505. Details regarding the burial will be provided at a later date.
