Beverly Pritchett Obituary

Beverly Jean Pritchett

Febrruay 16, 2023

Beverly Jean Pritchett died of pancreatic cancer February 16th at home in the presence of her loving sons Steve Pritchett and Gene Pritchett. She left this world the way she lived in it, with peace and grace. Per her request there will be no services.

Bev spent her youth in San Diego and it was there met a young Navy sailor, Jimmie Richard Pritchett (Dick or J.R.), who became her husband. They moved to Orcutt from Wyoming in 1960 for Dick to work at Vandenberg Air Force Base. They had many wonderful years together and raised their two sons in the home they purchased in 1960.

Bev worked as a special-ed assistant for 15 years for the Orcutt school district. She told many stories of her work with Bruce Mulcahy. She truly loved all of the children she worked with. After fifteen years with the school district she pursued a career change and became a barber. She owned her own business in Buellton and continued to give haircuts to friends and family even after retirement. Her great grandsons each received their first haircut from Grams.

Bev had many interests throughout her life: bowling, golf, Scouts in her younger years and playing games with her friends. She enjoyed RC car racing with Dick and Steve. But her greatest joys the last couple of decades was playing cards with her friends - JJ, Elaine, Bobbie, Jean Mac, and June, camping with her camping group - Love of Adventure and teaching and playing ukulele with the Oasis Ukulele band. Life was joyous if she could play every Wednesday with the band.

Family events always included cribbage games with her sons and grandkids. These times were always an opportunity for stories and laughter. If you were listening closely, there was always a bit of wisdom she would share from her many years of experience. We are really going to miss our cribbage games and stories.

Bev is survived by her sons Steve Pritchett (Sue) and Gene Pritchett (Barb). She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Marie Cisneros (Jeremy), Chris Pritchett (Mandy), Dani Coolidge (Nolan), and step granddaughter Caryn Mata (Carlos). She was very proud of her four great- grandsons, two step great-grandsons, and two step great-granddaughters. Bev was so grateful for her cousin Nancy Baillie, and her neighbors Diane, Jesse, Mike and Darren.
