Craig William DeLeenheer, 58, of Santa Maria, California, passed away on July 26, 2025, in Baldwin Park, California. Craig William DeLeenheer was born on April 26, 1967, in Bellflower, California. The second born son of William and Lorraine DeLeenheer. He grew up in the San Joaquin valley alongside his younger sister Christine. The family moved to Santa Maria where he attended Ernest Righetti High School. A trouble-maker with a sunny outlook, he would fill a room with laughter and was always able to make an extrovert out of even the most cautious introvert. He had many passions throughout his life, though his younger years showed off a competitive side with a love of swimming and a passion for go-karting. Craig became paralyzed at 24. Despite this drastic injury, he carried onwards as a wheel-chair user, showing resilience in the face of an uncertain future. After this accident, he returned to his parent's home and college, earning an Associates Degree in Art. He also returned to go-kart racing competing at the Nationals in Iowa. He spent many years helping Christine to raise his nephews, becoming a strong male role model and offering an introduction to pop culture, video games, and board games for them. After the passing of his father, Craig spent a majority of his time caretaking for his mother, who suffered from dementia, up until her peaceful passing.

Even after both of his parents passing his resilience never waivered as in 2021, he decided to quit drinking alcohol. He remained sober until his own passing.

Craig is survived by his sister Christine, his nephews Miles and James, and various extended family members. He was preceded in death by his brother Greg, his father William, and his mother Lorraine. A Celebration of Life will be held August 23, 2025, 1:00pm at First Christian Church 1550 S College Dr, Santa Maria, CA.
