Dorothy Walker Obituary
1947 - 2024
Dorothy Mary Walker was welcomed into this life by Julia Mason & Clyde "Brick " Roberts on 23 October 1947 in Cleveland, OH. Dorothy graduated from high school in Vermilion, Ohio in 1965 & graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in English Literature in 1969. She started her retail career at Young 's Ladies Clothing in Ypsilanti, MI, moved to Huntington, West Virginia to manage Lerner 's women 's clothing, & in 1979 moved across the country with her mother Julia & son Kevan to Santa Maria, CA where she owned Mae Moore Fashions (later Mae Moore Bridal & Tuxedo) for 18 years. Dorothy moved to Las Vegas, NV, in 1997, where she owned Jerry 's Tux Shop until 2020. In 2023 Dorothy moved to Durham, NH to live with Kevan, Sheri, & her grandchildren.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking & baking thousands of cookies each Christmas, & was found at the doorsteps of many delivering plates of cookies or containers of her latest soup recipe discovery. She enjoyed traveling, having visited Grand Caymen scuba diving, touring Italy, & walking in the holy land of Israel. In her most recent year's, she was also seen frequently at RockSteady Boxing & other events involving the Parkinson's community. Anyone who knew Dorothy for even a short time, knew that she had a fire within her that kept her on the move, no matter what, & always let you know what was on her mind.
She is preceded in death by her mother Julia, father (& "playmate") Clyde, ex-husband Jim, & co-conspirator Licorice, a Standard Poodle. She leaves behind her loving family, son, Kevan Walker, daughter-in-law, Sheri Walker, grandchildren, James, David, Julia, Bella, Kate, & Myra, cousins Bill Beutell and Bill Adams, Jerry Shapiro, her long-time friend & business partner, & her canine companion Ruby, a German Shepherd/ Australian Cattle Dog mix.
Funeral services will be Saturday March 30, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints meetinghouse at Andrew Jarvis Dr in Portsmouth, NH, Viewing 10am & Funeral at 11am (EST). The livestream of the service can be viewed at https://www.kentandpelczarfh.com/obituary/dorothy-walker Internment will follow at the Durham New Hampshire Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Parkinson's Foundation.

My family and I always did business with Dorothy when she owned Mae Moore Bridal & Tuxedo.
I will always cherish the friendship Dorothy and I had as we were much alike and had so much in common. As time went on, I soon learned why- we both shared the same birthday, 10/23.
Rest In Peace Dorothy you are and always have been a true angel.
