Ervin Grigg Obituary
December 4, 1931 - June 5, 2021
Ervin Dean Grigg 89, passed away peacefully in his home in Santa Maria, Calif., where he has lived the past 60 years or so. He was born in a log cabin in Pearson, Oklahoma to Omer and Mary Jane Grigg, and was the second son, out of ten children, nine boys and one girl.
Ervin was drafted into the U.S. Army at 21, and spent 2 years in Germany on the award winning pistol team. After he was honorably discharged and came home, he was a hard working, brilliant welder-fabricator in the farming industry, and for many years after, he was in the trucking business with sons Rick and David. He passed on his skills to his boys, grandchildren and anyone that wanted to learn. There weren't many men like him, a well liked and good human being always willing to help others.
Ervin is survived by his soul-mate of 24 years, Patricia Grigg; sons Rick, David (Julee) and Kenney Grigg; stepson Clifford Grigg; brothers Donald Grigg (Cloris), Lake Havasue, AZ; Bill (Darlene) Grigg, AZ and Glen of Grover Beach, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and 2 dogs that adored him. He loved to BBQ, fish, go camping and touring in their motor home, and go to his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events.
Ervin was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Grigg, parents; sister Frankie Louise Campbell; brothers Eugene, Virgil, Charlie, Hoyt, Windel and his first wife, Janie, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service with Chaplin Steve Parker, will be held Friday, June 11, 2021, 12:00 noon, at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary, 1003 E. Stowell Rd., Santa Maria, with graveside service immediately following at Santa Maria Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life Barbeque will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Dave and Julee's house, 205 E. Foster Rd., Santa Maria, Calif.
