Jimmy Buher Obituary

Jimmy Buher

December 17, 1941 - December 6, 2023

Orcutt - Jimmy Owen Buher was born December 17, 1941 in Indiana and passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023 in Orcutt, California just shy of his 82nd birthday.

He spent his life in service, from serving his country in the US Army to a lifelong career in law enforcement with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Dept.

Jimmy was a car guy. He loved the minute intricacies of cars from the inside out. He had an appreciation for all things made with quality, whether it be food, cars, furniture or watches and golf.

In 1974, Jimmy married Connie (Willer) Marshall. Although Jimmy had no biological children of his own, he was a second father to Connie's children. On the surface, Jimmy was stoic, practical and methodical, but watching Jimmy become a grandfather was something to behold. It released a tenderness that would thread through generations and left behind a depth of love that we will carry with us throughout our lives.

Jimmy is pre deceased by his parents, Charles and Louise Buher and his wife Connie Buher. He is survived by his children by heart not blood, Janis Taylor, Bryan Marshall, Paul Marshall (Sara), grandchildren Ashlen (Chris) Spence, Chelsea ( Robert) Poodry, Taylor Marshall and Devin Marshall and great grandchildren Bryn, Reegan and Toryn Spence and Wyatt and Dylan Poodry. He is also survived by numerous in-laws and outlaws who will miss him dearly. The family would like to express their deepest heartfelt love and gratitude to his brother-in-law, Vance Willer, for his selfless care and loving companionship to Jimmy and to Geraldene and Doug Copeland for the sincerity and deeply devoted expression of their care and friendship to Jimmy and his loved ones.

I am saddened to hear Detective Buher has passed. He was a mentor to me. Stoic, indeed, but had a heart for a young Reserve Deputy who needed to learn the fine art of lifting fingerprints & preserving them as evidence. I haven't seen Jimmy in many years, but already miss him. My condolences to his family.

So sad to hear about my friend's passing. He was a classy guy, through and through, and his work in the Detective bureau was of the highest order. Jimmy and Connie were truly meant for each other and they will not be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers for the family.
