John M. Schentrup, 91, of Santa Maria, CA, passed away peacefully with his wife, Alice Lollie by his side and surrounded in love by his 7 children, on November 19, 2022. John was blessed with a large and loving family, in addition to his wife and seven children, he is survived by 19 grand children and 22 great-grandchildren, whom he loved spending time with. Originally from Syracuse, NY, his career in the Navy and aerospace brought him west where he worked at Vandenberg AFB for a number of years. After retiring from Lockheed Missiles and Space in Las Cruces, NM, he returned to Santa Maria, drawn by his passion for the ocean and outdoors. The Schentrup's have been longtime members of St. Louis de Montfort parish. He was an avid woodworker, who was always looking for a project around the house, and loved puttering in the garden. His story telling, dry whit and incredible sense of humor will be greatly missed. If you wish to come pay your respects, a funeral mass is being said on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 10:00am at St. Louis de Montfort.
