Phillip Hager Obituary

Phillip Hager

October 2024

It is true that Phillip and Dorothy Hager loved ice cream and each other.

Sadly, this is Phil's obituary and he has followed Dorothy to their final resting place.

Phil, a longtime member of the Lompoc community, passed away peacefully at age 92 in October 2024, after a life full of adventure, dedication to community, family and friends.

A retired member of the United States Air Force, Phil proudly served his country before embarking on successful careers as a home builder and with the Lompoc Unified School District. Known for his gruff demeanor, quiet generosity, and steadfast nature, he became a cornerstone of the community through his work with the Lompoc's Elks Lodge #2274, contributing his time and spirit to countless events and causes.

Phil traveled during his early years and cherished the memories of the places he visited. A camel saddle he proudly owned reflected his adventurous spirit and curiosity about the world. Yet, some of his best days were spent closer to home, sharing laughs and good times with his three best friends at Jalama Beach all of them well into their best ages!

Despite his private nature, Phil was always immensely proud of his sons, Jeff and Jim, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who carry forward his legacy of strength, intelligence and curiosity.

Phil's life was an example of dedication, hard work, and unwavering loyalty. He will be remembered as a man who valued simplicity, friendship, and family above all else.

In accordance with his wishes, Phillip has been cremated. A private family memorial will be held in Spring of 2025.

Rest in power sir. A true leader. "Mr. Hager" drove our bus route from VMS to Mission Hills in Bus #3. He could handle driving a Crown 10-speed bus full of 6-8 graders. Thank you.
