Carolyn Cook-Turner Obituary

Ballston Spa - Cook-Turner, Carolyn T., Ballston Spa, Saratoga County. Carolyn Cook-Turner passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 83-years old. She was born in December 1937, in Schenectady, NY, daughter of the late Frank and Gilda Tariello. Carolyn graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Schenectady, class of 1954. Though never graduating college, Carolyn paved a path for women in the business world working in data programming, rising to become a Director of Data Programming at both Aetna Life and Casualty Company and Westinghouse Corporation. Carolyn enjoyed playing cards (especially Hearts and Pinochle) and thrived in social settings. A member of the Ladies of the Rotterdam Elks (L.O.R.E.) for several years, she rose through the ranks to serve for a year as the President of the L.O.R.E., garnering many friends along the way. During life’s challenging journey, Carolyn found true love with her second husband, John Richard Turner, who predeceased her in 2013. She treasured John’s last words to her, “We had a great ride.” Carolyn has three surviving sons. She took great pride in her middle son, Alan, who retired from the Army as a Colonel and Military Judge. Carolyn also loved her other two sons, Matthew and Glen; though never wealthy, Carolyn prided herself on being able to financially support and help both cope with disabilities. Carolyn has been interred with her husband John at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Cemetery, Schuylerville, Saratoga County, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Carolyn make a donation in her name to the ABA Commission on Law and Aging, which researches and trains professionals on the prevention and intervention of elder abuse at https://www.americanbar.org/groups/law_aging/. For anyone who was unable to reach Carolyn this past year by telephone or email, or who were otherwise denied a visit, please contact her son Alan at [email protected]. https://www.lastingmemories.com/carolyn-t-cook-turner
