Douglas William Correll January 24, 1968 – October 14, 2016 GREENFIELD CENTER - Douglas William Correll, age 48, beloved son of Chloe and Roderick Correll passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 at his home in Greenfield Center, NY. Besides his parents, Douglas is survived by his loving partner, Colleen Le Soine and two siblings, his sister Catherine Yunker, her husband Frank and their daughters Alexandra, Rebecca and Emily and his brother Edward Correll, his wife Monica and their sons Thomas and Daniel. At the time of his death Douglas was in his basement, on his training bike, energetically pursuing a recurrent dream, the quest to regain the championship status he had attained as a teenage cyclist. Other physical pursuits were equally impressive. Mountain climbing was a lifelong passion that he wholeheartedly embraced. Besides being an Adirondack 46er, with multiple circuits under his belt, he also journeyed to Colorado for ice climbing and to Nepal where he joined a group of mountain guides making a trek to Everest base camp. In recent years, physical fitness became his focus. Daily workouts at the Saratoga YMCA during the last three years of his life greatly improved his fitness and led to his certification as an NASM trainer with specialization in corrective exercise. Intellectual pursuits were equally important to Douglas. Reading voraciously, in many fields and combing websites, TV programs and films for nuggets on science, technology and philosophy that he frequently brought to our attention. Those who knew Doug will always remember him as a big hearted, passionate, kind, and extremely loyal man, who would always have your back. He enjoyed helping others and sharing his vast knowledge with them, and he was really good at all the little things in life that matter day to day, which made every moment beautiful and engaging. A memorial service will be held near the summit of Whiteface Mountain at the convenience of the family, some time next summer.
