Mildred DeGregory Obituary

Mildred DeGregorySaratoga Springs – Mildred "Millie" DeGregory passed away on September 4, 2018. She was born in Hannibal, Missouri on July 11, 1930 after her parents, Andrew and Mary Melaga, left Czechoslovakia for a better life in the United States. They lived in Missouri until they moved to Schuylerville, NY to be near family. Millie and her two sisters, Mary and Anna, had many good memories of their childhood. Millie graduated from Schuylerville High School and then started her work career at one of the largest hotels in Saratoga Springs as a waitress. It was that summer that she met the love of her life Gus DeGregory. They married one year later and enjoyed 62 years together. Millie was a homemaker for many years raising her five children. She worked for 16 years as a receptionist at Dr.'s Mintzer, Yates and Richman's office and ended her career in the Saratoga County Department of Social Services. Millie enjoyed working in her yard, playing bingo, taking walks and rides with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren.Throughout her life, Millie always had a large network of friends and was well liked because she treated people with kindness and always looked for the best in everyone.Millie was predeceased by her loving husband Gus, her parents, and her sister Anna Liptak. She is survived by her sister Mary Martinovich, her daughters; Jo-Anne Cardillo (Dominic), Carolyn DeMarinis (Frank), Nancy Indiano and Kathy Loya (Jeff), her son Gus DeGregory, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. In her later years she developed memory loss which may have affected her mind but it never took away her smile. We would like to thank the amazing staff on 2-Victoria and 5-Springs at Wesley Nursing Home for their genuine kindness, compassion, and exceptional care they provided for our mom.In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in Millie's memory to Wesley Health Care (131 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866) or the Alzheimer's Association Northeastern New York Chapter (4 Pine West Plaza #405, Albany, NY 12205).Relatives and friends may call from 9:30am-10:30am on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am. Millie DeGregory was one of my favorite Saratogians! She was a terrific wife, mother, and friend to all.
She had a warm and caring personality. My children were raised at Iroquois Drive and we frequently
chatted with Millie on the way to caroline street school. One of her great legacies is her fine children and
grandchildren! My best thoughts to her family.
