I am reading this obituary rather late. However, I want to say that I bought a landscape painting of Phyllis's at an art show in Saratoga in 1995 when I was 22. When she found out I had purchased it, she came up to me, introduced herself, and we chatted for a while. She was SUCH a garrelous, charming woman! I loved learning that she painted from her memories of places. That painting has been with me through the myriad chapters of my life, from Schenectady to Washington, DC, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New Haven, and now Queens, NY! I love it very dearly, it has been admired by many friends, and it hangs with honor in my current home. I hope this love letter to Phyllis, her talents, and her sweetness finds its way to her family as she is still very much alive in my heart. P.S.: I start a class at the Art Students League this very week; It's a small world.

Phyllis Mark was a beloved artist of my uncle who gave me one of her lovely sculptures..which I have now had for four decades. Although I did no t know her, I am glad she left such beautiful work as a tribute to creativity and life.

On a visit at Wesley, I asked Phyllis how she was doing. She told me she was comfortable and that she's had a good life. She then asked if I was having a good life. She cared about all of us. That's what I will carry with me always..

Phyllis was a truly fun and wonderful person, and personality! I always enjoyed talking with her at Empire State and when visiting with my Dad at Woodlawn Commons. She was an incredible artist but always modest about her talents. She made me laugh and, more recently, made me cry - I plan on remembering the laughing part more. RIP Phylis, you surely were a joy to know.
