STERLING – Daniel Wayne Anderson, 93, of Sterling, passed away following a short illness on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Daniel was born on September 2, 1929 in Xenia, IL, the son of Corbette and Nettie (Higgason) Anderson. He married Ramona Hamilton on August 20, 1949 in Flora, IL. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2004. Daniel was employed with Northwestern Steel & Wire for 39 years until his retirement in 1984. Daniel was affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Sterling. He enjoyed golfing, flying his private plane, and was a volunteer firefighter with the city of Sterling for twelve years.
Survivors include two daughters, Jill Anderson, of Rockford, and Jan (Steve) Moser, of Sterling; two sons, Kevin (Linda) Anderson of Bogalusa, LA, and Kelly Anderson, of Rock Falls; one brother, George Anderson, of Camdenton, MO; ten grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings; his wife, Ramona; and one son, Steven Anderson.
Cremation rites will be accorded. No services will be held. Interment will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
