David L. Bowman, 63 of Sterling died Wednesday April 2, 2025 at his home.
He was born on November 21, 1961 in Sterling the son of Leroy and Mary (Brackemeyer) Bowman. He married Dawn Smith on June 12, 1999 in Sterling. Dave had been employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. He loved music and had played the guitar and harmonica in several bands. Dave liked working on and building his own computers and making guitars.
Survivors include his wife, Dawn; children: Jacob (Kim) Nelson of Sterling and Mandy Kreps of Gilbert, AZ; his mother Mary Bowman of Sterling; his sister Laurie Ryerson of Sterling; his brothers: John (Kathy) Bowman of Sterling and Tom Bowman of Irving, TX; grandchildren: Blake, Kobe and Torrie Nelson; Taylor, Jack, Keke and Henry Kreps.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; infant sister Jenny; and brother in law Mike Ryerson.
A gathering of friends and family will take place on Friday April 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 1st Avenue in Sterling. Services will follow at 12:30 PM.
Memorials may be given in his memory to Rock River Hospice & Home.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.I just heard the passing of my friend Dave today,I worked with Dave at Sterling Steel for 10 or more years, he was one of a kind we use to joke around a lot he will truly be missed I know he is jamming up there in Heaven. Hey little brother, sorry you have to take this trip first. Death escaped us many times growing up ,we were so lucky. God was watching over us. Guess he needs a new member for the band to pep things up. Knowing you are free of pain and in good company is assuring. Tell dad and uncle Jim hi. Till we see each other again, I´ll be listening for the new sound. Memories will have to do. Love you your big brother.

Ive known Dave for many many years and he was always a beakon of sunshine in all he came in contact with! I have so many fond memories of Dave which I will cherish always in my heart. My condolences to his wife and family. David was and is a great man! Fly free w the Angels Dave! You will be missed.
