My daughter and I were guests at the Lafayette Hotel when Mr McCullough and family gathered for the promotion of his book "Pioneers".
It was not only his book, but his beautiful personality that shown brightly.
Who will be the historians who follow? Surely he set a high bar.

I'm so, so sorry for your family's loss of such a talented writer, scholar, and indeed a beautiful man who wrote elegantly about our country and its legacy of which he will forever be remembered. David McCullough was a great historian and a national treasure who preserved a great deal of American History. He is irreplaceable and he will be missed. My condolences to everyone who knew him.
