Dianne Carol Sworm, 77, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022. She was born August 19, 1944, in Abilene, TX, the daughter of Russell and Carol (Hooker) Bates. Dianne was a graduate of Sterling High School, class of 1962, and the attended the School of Nursing from KSB Hospital graduating in 1966. She married William Sworm in Rockford on April 8, 1967. Dianne was a nurse at SwedishAmerican Hospital in the Psychiatric department and later at Highland Hospital in Belvidere as the head of the Emergency Room. She was a lover of all animals and was known for providing care to many different animals in need through the years, especially Greyhounds. Her love for her children and her children's loved ones was remarkable. Her selflessness, strength, words of wisdom and undying love for her own children and her "family" was unbelievable. Her door and home were always open to anyone that needed it. A truly magnificent person to all that met her.
Survived by her husband, Bill; their daughters, Stephanie Sworm and Janna Liston (Chad Elston) and her grandson, Dominick Liston. Predeceased by her parents.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Greyhound Racers, P.O. Box 2712 Crystal Lake, IL 60039 or www.4greyhoundracers.org. (please reference her name).
