Died: July 31, 2025 in Morrison, IL
Eugene E. Robbins, age 89, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Resthave in Morrison.
Eugene was born March 6, 1936 in Sterling, IL, the son of Edward and Margaret (Lou) Robbins. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1955-1959 and later married Lu B. Finch on August 5, 1961 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on July 3, 2004. Eugene was employed at GE in Morrison for 35 years retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Sterling Family Moose, Rock Falls American Legion, and the Geneology Society.
He is survived by his special friend, Maxine Stern; four cousins, Glen (Charline) Frank of Morrison, Duane (Judy) Lou of Rock Falls, Gary (Mary) Lou of FL, and Bendeta Fuller of FL; and five nieces and nephews, Pat (Mark) Bohman of MI, John (Tammy) Matern of MI, Barb Matern of GA, Robin (Russell) Newton of GA, and Edward (Holly) Matern of MI.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lu Robbins; his parents; and one sister, Cleo Matern.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Zack Mapes of the First Christian Church in Sterling officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown.
A memorial has been established.
