Gordon F. Dempsey, age 81 of Rock Falls, died Monday, September 26, 2022 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.
He was born on October 2, 1940 in Dixon, Illinois, the son of Peter Leroy Dempsey and Alice G. (Egan) Dempsey. He was a graduate in the class of 1958 of Newman Central Catholic High School.
Gordon was a State of Illinois retiree. He is survived by a daughter, Lori Dempsey of Champaign, IL; a son, Scott Dempsey and his wife, Terra, of Dixon; one sister, Nancy Hague; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald F. Dempsey, and daughter, Kathy Ann Dempsey.
He is a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, and an honorary life member of the Dixon Knights of Columbus, as well as, a member of the Sterling Moose Lodge.
Gordon wishes to thank the Egan Bros. of Deer Grove, IL, Jim, Gary, Douglas, and Jeff Egan. They all will understand, and also a special thank you to Rosemary Pizarro for being a caregiver and friend.
Celebration of life and Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, with the Reverend Richard Russo, Celebrant, officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00-10:30 A.M. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Burial will take place Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Cemetery in Tampico.
