Linda Daub Obituary

Linda Rae (Strawbridge) Daub
Born: October 22, 1945
Died: August 14, 2025
Linda Rae (Strawbridge) Daub, age 79, of Chana, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, August 14, 2025 with her family by her side. She had suffered a heart attack that left unsurvivable damage the day before.
Linda was born October 22, 1945, in Rochelle, Illinois, the daughter of Laverne "Bud" and Isla (Whitsell) Strawbridge. Linda married Darrel Daub on December 1, 1963.
As a young adult, Linda carried the honor of being a 2x Honored Queen of Job's Daughter of DeKalb's Local Bethel through the Masonic Temple. With this supreme responsibility was the honor to go to Washington, DC and place a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Linda and her sister, Donna, worked as lifeguards at the iconic Spring Lake, where they also taught swimming lessons for several years.
Linda graduated from the Rochelle Township High School (class of 1963), then attended Sauk Valley College, where she graduated with her nursing degree while married and starting her family.
After retiring from nursing, Linda continued to work for the Rochelle Community Hospital in the Multi-Specialty Clinic, where she worked until the day she passed. Her commitment and passion to help others, never tired or wavered.
Her life's ministry was to be the hands and feet of Jesus's love. She embodied the scripture Matthew 25:40 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'
A big part of her ministry was through her dedication to the Chana United Methodist Church, where she served on many teams and committees. The past and present clergy and the members of the church were a large part of her family.
Linda's compassion and love for everyone she met will be missed by so many. She always had a way to make you feel welcomed, heard and cared for. "Do not hesitate to show hospitality to strangers… for in so doing some have entertained angels unaware." Hebrews 13:2
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne "Bud" Strawbridge, Isla Strawbridge; husband, Darrel Daub; daughter, Angela Daub; brother, Tom Strawbridge; in-laws, Floyd Sr. and Corrine Daub; brother-in-law, Floyd Daub Jr., and brother and sister-in law, Bill and Beulah "Bea" Daub.
She is survived by four of her children, Karen (Brian) Larson of Leaf River, IL, David (Dana) Daub of Mt. Morris, IL, Tracy (Steve) Novak of Rio Rancho, NM, and Daniel (Suzie) Daub of Oregon, IL; her six cherished grandchildren, Mallory (Devin) Shuman, Isabelle (Corban) Ferguson, Micah Larson, Matthew Daub, Kaitlyn Daub, Joey (Amber) Novak, Jessica Novak, and Spencer Daub, one great-grandson, Colter Ferguson; sister, Donna (Tom) Heid; sister-in-law, Audrey Daub, along with many nieces and nephews and her
best friend since high school, Marge Kuehl.
A celebration of life service will be Friday, August 22, 2025 at 6:00 P.M. at the Chana United Methodist Church, 606 Main Street, Chana, IL with the Rev. David Rogula officiating. Visitation will be held before the service from 4:00 to 5:45 P.M. The Forest City Nurse Honor Guard will perform the Nightingale Tribute in recognition of her service to the nursing profession. There will be a private burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Hope of Ogle County, P.O. Box 131, Rochelle, IL 61068 or Chana UMC in care of Joy Camp, 606 Main Street, Chana, IL 61015. Cremation care has been provided by the Unger-Horner Funeral Home. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
