Mark Allen Fane, 54, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 25th, 2023 at his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Mark was born September 6, 1969 in Sterling, Illinois to Roger and Barbara Fane. Mark loved growing up in Dixon with cousins during the summers, riding bikes, fishing, camping, and of course, exploring new adventures.
Mark graduated from Dixon High School in 1987. He continued his education by attending Sauk Valley College, graduating with two associate's degrees in corrections and criminal justice. During Mark's career, he worked as a police officer in Mendota, Illinois, deputy sheriff in LaSalle County, and achieving his dreaming of becoming an Illinois State Trooper at the age of 29. Mark was a devoted son, father, brother and uncle. He always loved watching his son Devon play baseball and hockey. He was a very proud father, always wanting to spend time with Devon.
Mark will be remembered for his love of renovating every home he owned, spending time at the gym, watching his son and nephews play any sport, and the love for his mother.
Mark is survived by his son, Devon Fane of Dixon, IL; his mother, Barbara Fane of Dixon, IL; his sister, Laurie Fane and nephews, Ryan and Danny Heston of Annawan, IL; aunts, Kathy Lane of Dixon, IL and Mary (Dennis) Morrison of Champaign, IL; and several cousins.

Services will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dixon on November 18, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the funeral at 12:00 p.m. at the church. An honor guard by the Illinois State Police will be presented at the visitation and funeral. A luncheon will be provided at the Elks on Route 38 in Dixon, IL at 2:00 p.m.
