Richard G. Beattie, 90, of Rock Falls, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at Resthave Home in Morrison.
He was born on July 24, 1931, in Chambersburg, PA, the son of Eldon and Helen (Tarner) Beattie. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. Richard married Alberta Mae Davis on July 23, 1954 in Rock Falls. She passed away March 26, 2016. He was employed for many years at the formerR .B. & W. Co in Rock Falls retiring as a tool and die maker. He was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sterling. Richard had enjoyed hunting, fishing and attended his grandchildren's and sports events.
Survivors include his children, Susan Scott of Rock Falls, Sharon (Ken) Miller of Sterling and Tim Beattie of Belvidere; his son-in-law, Ron Snitchler of Rock Falls; sisters, Ruth Allen of Owatonna, MN and Bev (Marvin) Anderson of Walnut; his sister-in-law, Bev Beattie of Rock Falls; five grandchildren, Kelly (Trent) Schryver, Matt (Jerrika) Miller, Riley (Katie) Scott, Haley Scott, MacKenzie Beattie; and three great-grandchildren, Abbie, and Ryan Schryver and Chevella McPherson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Patricia Snitchler; son-in-law, Rod Scott; his sister, Virginia Gustafson; two brothers. Sam and Bob Beattie; and great-grandson, Jameson Miller.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bethel Reformed Church in Sterling. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. in the church with the Reverend Grant Mulder officiating. Burial with military honors will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Arrangements by McDonald Funeral Homes.
