Robert W. "Bob" Spinden age 67 of Grand Detour died Friday Dec. 8, 2023 at his home in the "village" He was born February 26, 1956 in Dixon the son of William Frederick and Mary Jayne (Beach) Spinden. Bob had worked for Hal Roberts Distributing in Dixon for 20 years and had also worked for Vock Distributing, Matthews Distributing, and Hayes Distributing. He was a member of the Al Morrison Baseball board of directors for 10 years and was a past president of the board. He was also a member of the Dixon Baseball RBI Club and had played on numerous men's league softball teams for 40 years. Bob was also an assistant baseball coach at DHS. He loved coaching and being a mentor. He had an avid love for music, enjoyed going to concerts and had a huge music collection. He was preceded in death by his father. Bob is survived by his children Nikola (Zion) Spinden-Meagher of Dixon, Kelson (Jessica) Spinden of Dixon and Jackson Spinden of Dixon; his mother Mary Jayne Spinden of Dixon, one sister Linda (Dave) Wiseman of Grand Detour, one brother Tom Spinden of Dixon, one niece and several nephews and his two dogs. Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be after the holidays. Memorial contributions in Bob's name can be made to Al Morrison Baseball.
