Died: June 9, 2024 in Dixon, IL
Thomas Francis Dilger of Dixon, IL passed away on June 9, 2024, at the age of 78.
Tom grew up in rural Yankton, SD and had two siblings (Joe and Mary Ann) with whom he had fun playing silly pranks.
After high school, Tom married the love of his life, Gail Bertsch. Together, they had four children: Steve (Kristine) Dilger (Dixon, IL), Jason (Sara) Dilger (Dubuque, IA), Amy (Dan) Hoekstra (Plainfield, IL), and Laurie Kasten (Leland, NC).
Tom worked for Dixon Web for many years. His job turned into a passion for printing, which allowed him to provide for his family. He also loved bringing his young children to St Patrick's Catholic Church.
After Tom's young wife passed away, he volunteered with a Christian program called "New Life for Youth" in Richmond, VA and implemented his prior skills by printing helpful pamphlets. In addition, Tom taught young adult Bible study. It was here that he excelled at being a Christian leader and was proud of the positive influence he had on younger generations.
After several years of humbly serving the Lord, Tom moved back to Dixon, IL to be closer to his family.
Tom is preceded in death by his mother Marilyn Dilger; father, Dr. Francis Dilger, wife, Gail Dilger; brother, Joe Dilger; and grandchild, Abigail Dilger.
Tom is survived by his sister, Mary Ann; children Steve, Jason, Amy, and Laurie; grandchildren, Zach, Megan, Katherine, and Anna Grace; and great-grandchildren Ivy and Theo.
While Tom will be deeply missed by his family and friends, there is also great peace and comfort in knowing that Tom is rejoicing with his Heavenly Father.
All are welcome to join family and friends to honor Tom with a "Celebration of Life luncheon, which will be held on June 15, 2024, from noon-3:00 pm at the VFW Post 540, 1560 IL-38, Dixon, IL 61021.
A memorial has been established.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
