Andy Blalock Obituary

Andy Edwin Blalock - SAVANNAH - Andy Edwin Blalock, 64 died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Memorial University Medical Center. He was the son of the late Milton and Hilda Dorman Blalock. He was a graduate of Garner High School and North Carolina State University. Mr. Blalock served as the Assistant Director of Engineering and Operations at Duke University Medical Center, and most recently as the Vice President of Facilities Services at Memorial University Medical Center from which he retired. He was a member of the St. Andrew's Society, The Society of Colonial Wars, The Sons of the American Revolution, The Sons of The Revolution, The General Society of The War of 1812, The Sons of Confederate Veterans, and The Military Order of the Stars and Bars. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and The Knights of Columbus. He volunteered at the Social Apostolate of Savannah and served on their Advisory Board. He was a communicant of The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Ann Knott Blalock of Savannah; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Rob Kirk of Raleigh, North Carolina, an uncle, Donald Blalock (Ann), and aunts, Sylvia Elliott, and Evelyn Walters (Marvin), and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with a Rosary service at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 at The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Burial will be held at a later date. The family suggests that remembrances be made in Mr. Blalock's memory to the Social Apostolate of Savannah at 505 E. Liberty, Savannah, Georgia 31401. For several months Andy has been an outstanding volunteer at the Social Apostolate. His dedication and depth of character were unbelievable. We'll all miss him so much! Betsy and all your family will be in our prayers.

I had only begun to know Andy, his love of God and his need to show Gods love. We had just started picking together and the last song we played was Ashokin Farewell. I will always remember Andy and that song. Our deepest sympathy goes to Betsy and their family. David and Jane Hodge
