Bette Schuenemann Obituary

Bette Ruth Schuenemann (Bette Betts), 87, died on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 after a long illness at Southern Plantation in Loganville, Georgia. She was the wife of the late Dietrich Henry Schuenemann and mother of the late Henry Schuenemann who preceded her in death. Mrs. Schuenemann was born in New York City and raised in Savannah, Georgia. She was a retired school teacher from the Chatham County Board of Education. She had a passion for teaching and also taught at Savannah Christian School and Calvary Baptist School. Mrs. Schuenemann was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forsyth and the County Garden Club in Forsyth, Georgia. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty S. and Rankin Thomas of Conyers and Dayle and Les Rivers of Bluffton, SC; six grandsons, George Allen and his wife Carolyn of Conyers, Ricky McCurley and his wife LaRhonda of North Georgia, Jay Proctor of Forsyth, GA, Rick Proctor of Atlanta, GA and William a nd Benjamin Rivers of Bluffton, SC and four great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army which Mrs. Schuenemann sponsored for many years. Mrs. Schunemann was my 8th grade teacher at Savannah Christian School. She always told the most interesting stories as a reward to our class for working hard. She was a caring and kind teacher.
